[VIDEO] 11-year-old Pee Wee football player opens fire on teammates | washingtonengager.com

Violence is on the rise in this country and there are people of all ages committing various heinous crimes.

To underscore this fact, an 11-year-old boy in Florida has been arrested for shooting two of his football teammates. The altercation reportedly stemmed from a dispute over a bag of chips.

From Fox 35 Orlando:

The boy, who is not being named because of his age, faces a charge of attempted second-degree murder, Apopka Police Chief Michael McKinley said during a news conference Tuesday in the morning.

Authorities said the boy grabbed the gun from an unlocked box in his mother’s SUV and fired at another teammate, hitting him in the back. The same round is believed to have hit another youth in the arm.

Both children were taken to the hospital and are expected to make a full recovery, police said.

“As a society we need to reflect on this,” Chief McKinley said. “We see it all too often in our society now.”

“Youths, young people … who have access to guns, but the most disturbing part is that they believe that this gun, this firearm, is a solution to their problem. And it’s not a solution to anyone else’s problems. It just creates more problems for everyone. involved,” he said.

Thank God, these children are expected to make a full recovery, but imagine how deeply their lives will still be altered by this traumatic event.

While the child responsible for this crime should not have had such easy access to a firearm, we as a society must recognize the fact that guns are not the only problem here.

Clearly we have a mental health and moral problem in this country that no one wants to address. Instead, we just want to take the easy way out and blame everything on the gun. In reality, guns have been around for decades and decades, and this level of violence has never been seen before.
